This October, we will be hosting two community summits. These events are an opportunity for people building high-velocity organizations to come together for two days of learning, collaborating, and sharing. Each summit has its own objectives and format; please read on to discover which summit is best for you and your team!
Community Summit – Seattle
Date: October 2-3
Location: Chef, 619 Western Ave., Seattle, WA 98104
Format: Open spaces and hacking.
Objective: Bring developers of Chef, InSpec, and Habitat together to discuss advancing the state-of-the-art of continuous automation and strengthen bonds within the community.
Join us in Seattle on October 2 & 3 for a day of open spaces and a day of hacking. This year’s summit will build on the successful style and format of last year’s community summit. On the first day we will invite every participant to propose a topic for discussion. Discussions should be around the tools and practices used in the journey towards continuous automation, specific tools include Chef, InSpec, Habitat, and Chef Automate. Topics will be selected for discussion, we will break into small groups to discuss each topic, and will drive the conversation towards actions and capturing emerging practices and ideas. The second day is the time to put some of those new ideas into practice. We will breakout our computers and start hacking on projects. Throughout the day we will demonstrate what we have learned and what we have built.
The Seattle summit is an intimate gathering of engineers building and contributing to Chef’s software. The discussions tend to be quite technical. New ideas, code, and practices always emerge from the discussion. This is a great time for you to strengthen your understanding of Chef’s software and your connections within the developer community.
Early bird tickets ($75) are on sale now through September 14. Register today!

Join us in London on October 16 & 17 for two days celebrating the community. This year’s summit agenda has been revamped to include even more opportunities for learning about Chef’s entire product suite. The summit includes keynote presentations from Chef’s Corey Scobie, SVP of Product and Engineering, and Nathen Harvey, VP of Community Development. These will be followed by some awesome customer stories and demos of the latest advancements in Chef Automate, Habitat, and InSpec. The summit will also include open spaces wherein the agenda and topics will be proposed and agreed upon by all participants. This format ensures the most important topics get discussed and the most critical questions are answered.
New at this year’s London summit are Workshops and Chef Certifications. We will run short workshops giving you the chance to learn something new across Chef Automate, Habitat and InSpec. You will also have an opportunity to take a Chef Certification at the event. This certification can be used to demonstrate your capabilities and communicate your credentials. The £20 charge for the certification exams is a significant discount available to summit attendees.
